Digital Model Factory

Lean Approach and Industry 4.0 Training

The concept of Lean first appeared in the 1990 book The Machine That Changed the World. According to John Krafcik, lean production is “a production method that achieves the highest quality, lowest cost, and shortest lead time by using minimal resources; responds appropriately to customer demands; and manages all production factors in the most flexible way while fully utilizing their potential.”

The term Industry 4.0 emerged as a concept supported by the German government’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research’s 2020 strategies. The government allocated a high budget for advanced technology studies under this initiative, which was institutionalized as the Platform Industrie 4.0.
